Empire Icons

Empire Screen and Icons

  • Crown Count: number of crowns earned in both Attacking and Defensive Battles.
  • Battle Shield: indicates whether the player has battled yet this league season as well as which league level the player is placed in.  If the player has yet to battle the shield is grey with a question mark.  If the player has battled, the shield will indicate the league level that the player is placed in.  A graphic of the various shields can be found by selecting the information button on the Leagues tab of the Leaderboards.
  • Xbox icon: This green icon is displayed when a player uses Xbox to access the game.  If the player has the Xbox icon and you use Xbox as well, you can private message each other through Xbox.  (Player security settings may prevent messaging)

  • Purchase icon: Clicking the Purchase icon will open up the Purchasing screen.  Here you will be able to either buy additional Gold with real money, or purchase resources with the Gold earned in game.

FAQs

FAQs

Attack

  • Where do I find out who has attacked my empire?
    • Both Defensive and Attack battle logs are available.  On the Empire screen there is an icon that looks like a note pad above the Battle button.  Click this icon and the logs will open set to the Defense Log.  Click the Tab at the top of the page  to select the Attack log.
  • How do I revenge someone who has attacked me?
    • Go to your Battle Logs and look at your defense logs.  On the defense logs, you will see a fist icon.  If the fist is gold and the icon is not greyed out,  then you may revenge this player.  When you are ready, i.e. you've reviewed the player's empire layout as well as have your troops and Heroes selected, click the fist icon to initiate the revenge attack.  If the player is online or under a Peace Treaty, you will not be allowed to revenge at that time.  Come back later.  You are only allowed to revenge the last 5 players who have attacked you.  If the fist is gold, but the icon is greyed out, then this player is no longer available to revenge.  If the Fist is red,,this attack was a revenge attack and you are not allowed to revenge a player who has revenged you.
  • The empire I was attacking was worth 3 crowns and I won.  Why did I only get 1 crown?
    • The Crowns offered are the total crowns you can win if you destroy the entire empire 100%.  If you do not destroy the entire empire, you get a percentage based on the Stars you win.  1 Star is 33% of the offered crowns, 2 Stars is 66%, and 3 Stars is 100%.
  • How do I earn stars?
    • Destroying the opponents Keep or 50% of their empire will earn a 1 star win; Destroying 50% of their empire, including the Keep is a 2 star win; Destroying 100% of their empire is a three star win.
  • How do I earn keys?
    • You can earn a maximum of 2 keys per battle.  The first key is earned by destroying 20% of the empire and the 2nd key is earned at 60% destruction.  Earning a key is not considered a win.
  • I destroyed 80% of my opponents empire, however I only earned one key.
    • If you only have one chest remaining to open, you will only earn one key in battle no matter how much of their empire you destroy.

Battle Chests

  • I earned an exclusive honor item from my Battle Chest, however I cannot find it in my Empire anywhere.  How do I collect it?
    • Select the Market Button, then Honor.  Scroll to the left until you get to Battle Chest Items.  Select Battle Chest Items and look there for an Owned item.  If you do not see any owned items, scroll through the regular Honor items and see if you have any there that are owned.  If so, select it and it will be build on your empire map.  Also, you are only allowed to own so many of each item.  If you have already met your limit you will not get the item.
  • I have earned keys in battle, should I open the chests now, or wait until later.
    • Depends on how much time is left on the Battle Chest timer and how full your resources are.  If you resource storage is full, or you think you will be attacked soon and you have plenty of time left on the Battle Chest Timer, then holding the keys until you have resources storage room is not a bad idea.  However, remember the keys as well as the Chests will reset when the timer counts down.  If you do not use the keys with the time period allotted, they will disappear.
  • I only had Bronze level Chests remaining yesterday, so I kept my keys and did not open any chests, since I might get higher level chests today.  Now I cannot find my keys.  Where are they?
    • The keys reset at the same time the chests reset.  Once the timer counts down, you lose any unused keys as well as any unopened chests.

Relief Troop Forces

  • How do I get Relief Troop Forces?
    • To get Relief Troop Forces, you need to build a Watch Signal.  The Watch Signal is in the Market, under Fortifications and costs 6,000 Wood and takes 15 hours to build.
  • How do I know if I have relief forces available to me?
    • Select your watch signal and click the Relief Force button.  It will display the relief forces you have.  You can also go to the Member List and select the information icon for your gamer tag and it will display the Relief Forces you have.  While there you can see who else needs relief forces.
  • I have a Watch Signal and it is filled with Relief Troop Forces, but they never come to my aid.  I see where they were filled, but I have been attacked several times.
    • Is your Watch signal well protected?  Once the Watch Signal calls for troops, if it is destroyed before they come, they will not arrive.  Protect it well, so like your Guard houses, when your relief troops are destroyed,  it can continue to call more troops as long as it is not destroyed and you have more reserves ready to come.
  • Someone told me that if you have Relief Troop Forces my Watch Signal has a flame.
    • This is not currently true.  I have seen my watch signal burning even when I do not have any Relief Forces to come to my aid.  Also do not depend on this when selecting an empire to attack.  I have attacked empire's with extinguished watch signals and had relief troops arrive.
  • Why should I send Relief Troop Forces, isn't that the job of the Emperor and Lords?
    • Sending Relief Troop Forces is the responsibility of all alliance members.  Neither the Emperor nor the Lords get any additional resources or bonuses for sponsoring an alliance.  They only have additional responsibilities.
  • My Emperor wants me to send mounted troops as Relief Troop Forces but they are more expensive than sending foot troops.
    • Actually per slot, Mounted Troops are cheaper than Foot Troops.  They are also faster, so they can get to the battle sooner to inflict the most damage and they are stronger and survive longer.
  • How do I know who has sent me relief forces?
    • Select the Communication Center and then the Notifications tab.  This will list the recent players who have sent troops and who they have sent troops to as well as what kind of troops were sent.  It is always a good idea to send troops to the players your age who have sent troops to you.  However, make sure they are not at a higher age or cavalry level.  If their troops are stronger than yours, and there are plenty of players at their age level, send to a lower age player and let a similarly developed player replenish their relief troops.
  • Why would anyone send Raiders of Muscovy as Relief Troop Forces?  They are for raiding resources.
    • Raiders of Muscovy target Trebuchets and burn them fairly quickly.  They are not very helpful to lower age players who are not faced with Trebuchets, but in the higher ages, they are very useful.

Earning Additional Gold

  • Catching Spies
    • There are Spies patrolling your empire.  Look for a single troop patrolling your empire, not the usual pair of troops walking together.  Click on it and it will disappear awarding you gold coins.  The amount of gold received per spy is determined by the age of your empire.  It is common to find more than one spy in your empire at one time.  However finding three spies is extremely rare.
  • Connecting Roads for Daily Gold
    • You earn three pieces of gold daily for each road you have connected.  To ensure that your roads are connected, make sure that they look like bricks, not a solid line.  Connect to the castle at a road placement as well as the edge of the map at one of the four lighted entry points and that any walls that cross the road are converted to a Gate.  To convert a wall piece to a Gate, select the wall and choose convert to gate.  This is only available when a wall piece connects two pieces of road.

General
  • What does the shield in the upper left corner represent?
    • This is the Battle Shield.  It indicates whether the player has battled yet this league season as well as which league the player is placed in.  If the player has yet to battle the shield is grey with a question mark.  If the player has battled than the shield will indicate the league that the player is placed in.  A graphic of the various shields can be found by selecting the information button on the Leagues tab of the Leaderboards.
  • I came across an empire layout where all the resources and other buildings were protected by walls and towers, but the Keep was just in the middle of the field, no protection.  Why would anyone do that?
    • This is called a Tribute Layout.  The intention is that attackers will  "respect the tribute", destroy the keep only with a few units and leave the resources untouched.  Players use this when they need to collect resources for a big upgrade.  They get attacked often and lose crowns, but they can make up the resources lose with production and the occasional battle.
  • When should I age my Keep up to the next level?
    • You should complete all Economic and Military upgrades and a significant portion of your Fortification upgrades before aging up.  This ensures that you will be strong enough and have enough resources to compete with the players that will be attacking you.
  • I am attacked by players who have 2 heroes.  I only have 1 open hero slot.  How do I open the other hero slot?
    • Hero Slots increase can be researched with a level 4 University and costs 60,000 Stone, no pennants.

Alliance

  • Can I trade food, wood, stone and pennants, with members of my alliance?
    •  No, you cannot send resources to members of your alliance.  You only trade Relief Troop Forces with members of your alliance.
  • What is the point of an alliance if you cannot trade within the alliance?
    • An alliance has several benefits; Trading Relief Troop Forces, Building Wonders, Alliance Leagues as well as a place to share information and ideas.
  • When I look at the alliance member list sorted by Crowns, some of the crowns are a dark grey and others are white.  Why are there two different colors?
    • The crown numbers of players in the alliance when the season started are white.  Any player who joined after the alliance had been locked for the league season, the numbers are grey and are not included in the crowns used for the leagues.  If the alliance wins one of the top three slots in the alliance league, the players with grey crown numbers will not get gold.
  • I accidentally left my alliance and I do not know how to find it to rejoin.  What do I do?
    • Go to the Alliance List topic on this blog.  Search for your original alliance.  If you cannot find it.  Join any of the listed alliances by searching by emperor name.  Post a chat to the emperor asking for help to find your original alliance.
  • I want to be an Emperor of my own alliance, is this possible?
    • Yes, we encourage players  to become emperors.  We recommend that you post a chat to your current emperor and ask to become an emperor.  You will be directed to an alliance where the emperor will help you understand the responsibilities of being an emperor as well as understand some of the issues you will face as an emperor.

Pennants

  • What use are pennants and how do I acquire them?
    • Pennants are generated in your research buildings, religious and educational.  They are stored in the Keep as well as the research buildings.  They are used to acquire Heroes at the Hall of Heroes and Special Civilization Units at the Special Units building as well as to do research at the research buildings.  You can only generate Pennants of your civilization.  When attacking, you will acquire the pennants of the civilization being attacked by damaging the research buildings and the Keep.  You may also acquire pennants from Battle Chests.

Wonders

  • Why are my battles not counting towards my alliance's Wonder?  I destroyed 6 Archer towers in battle and my Emperor says the task count did not change.
    • Do you have an embassy?  Only players with an Embassy can contribute to wonders either passively or actively.
  • I have an Embassy, but I cannot activate Poison the well even though my alliance has fully researched it and I have the monument.
    • You must have a level 2 Embassy to access level 2 wonders.  You do not need a level 2 Embassy to contribute to level 2 wonders.  The Emperor needs a level 2 Embassy to upgrade a level 1 Wonder or to research a level 2 boost.
Xbox
  • How do I change my GamerTag/Player Name?
    • To change it, either go to Xbox.com>profile>change gamertag, or in-game go to Social>Alliances>Friends> There is a green arrow at top of page to go to XboxLive>login with the same MS email as your game acct>profile>change gamertag. The first gamertag change is free of charge, so make sure the new tag is exactly what you want before hitting 'accept'. This information is from Scythian Fury in the AOE Forums.  See the whole post here.

Attack Tips

Attack Tips

Where should I drop my troops to receive less damage?
  • Deploy your troops as close to the defensive building as possible.  The attackers below are being shot as they approach the tower.  Had they been dropped at the red X, they would have received less damage.

Why can't I drop my troops close to the keep?
  • Building have a line of sight.  The line of sight is indicated by the white or yellow outline around the buildings.  Troops can only be dropped outside of the outline.

Building Value Hierarchy

Building Value Hierarchy, % win

Buildings will have different percentage values, based on the number of building that have been built in a particular empire.  However, some buildings are worth more than others and taking out higher value buildings gets you closer to a 50% win.  The buildings below are listed from most valuable to least valuable.

  • Keep - 1 star win if destroyed completely

  • Storage buildings (Storehouses, Silos and Lumberyards)

  • Production buildings (Quarries, Farms and Mills)
  • Research buildings (Universities, Cathedrals and Embassy)

  • Military Buildings (Archery, Barracks, Stable, Siege Workshop, Hall of Heroes, and special troops building)

  • Guardhouse

  • Fortifications (Towers, Trebuchets, Catapults)

  • Watch Signal

*Army Camps are not attackable.  They have no value and should be kept outside the walls and as close to the edge as possible, because they do leave a footprint.  Alerting the attacking force of a safe zone to spawn.

Moving Between Alliances

Moving Between Alliances

To move players between alliances we use a Kick\Invite method.  The emperor from your current alliance will kick you out of the alliance and the emperor from your new alliance will send you an invite.

We cannot invite you to your new alliance until you have been kicked out of your current alliance.  Once kicked out, you will know your new emperor has sent the invite when the Chat Tab in the middle left of the main screen starts glowing yellow.  Select the chat tab and the invite will appear.  Select the JOIN button.

Game Definitions Unofficial

Game Definitions (Unofficial)

These are terms that I have come across in the boards and in game play.  I have done my best to phrase them accurately.  Updates, clarifications and Suggestions are always welcome and encouraged.

10 Minute Game Grace Period: Every time you log off, your account stays active for 10 additional minutes.  This 10 minutes lowers your Bucket Time.  If you log on for 5 minutes, 12 times a day, you are using more than 60 minutes of your bucket time, (5m*12t), you are using 180 minutes, ((5m+10m)*12t).  Though it affects players on any device.  This Grace Period is added so that players using Smartphones are not attacked when they are briefly disconnected due to service provider issues.

Advanced Scouting: Boost, 2nd level of Kizhi Pogost, assists with attack by allowing you to see during the Scout phase, all fire traps and caltrops of the Keep you attacking.  Once you go into the actual attack they are hidden again.

Alliance: A group of up to 50 players that participate in Alliance Leagues, help each other with defending the keep by sending Relief Forces work and working together to complete Wonders and then Wonder Boosts.  An alliance member can be one of three levels, Noble, Lord, and Emperor.

Alliance Pack: A group of alliances working together by trading players, resources and knowledge.

Announcements Tab: If a player is in an alliance, the Announcements tab is located in the Communication Center.  This tab is used by the Emperor and Lords to communicate with the rest of the alliance.  It should only be used for messages of high importance that need to be available for a long period of time.  The Announcements tab also displays an automated message when the Wonder or Alliance Settings are changed.

Basilica of San Vitale: Wonder, boosts are Trade Envoy, Expropriation & Expansion.

Battle Chests: Located in the lower section of the left hand side of the Empire screen.  The Battle Chests icon opens the Battle Chests screen.   The Battle Chests screen displays 9 chests representing additional bonuses for doing well in battle.  Each player can earn the ability to open up to 9 Battle Chests every 24 hours.  There are 4 different levels of Battle Chests, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Royal.  How many chests of each level that a player gets each 24 hour period is random. The majority of chests will be of the lower levels and only a few will be of the higher levels.  A legend to the right of the chests show how many chests of each level remains to be opened.  The Battle Chests give players the chance to earn resources, loot, honor items as well as exclusive honor items only available in the chest just for battling in the game. To open a chest, a player must earn a key.  Keys are earned in battle.  A player can earn up to 2 keys per attack.  The first key is earned at 20% empire destruction and the second key is earned at 60% destruction.  Though you do not have to open chests after every battle where a key is earned, it is recommended.  If you would like to accumulate your keys, you may, however, every 24 hours the battle chests and the keys reset.  So if you have not opened chests with your available keys before the reset, the keys will disappear and cannot be kept from day to day hoping for better chests to open.   Age of Empires Battle Chest Announcement

Battle Logs:

Battle Shield: Located in the upper left corner of the empire screen the battle shield indicates whether the player has battled yet this league season as well as which league the player is placed in.  If the player has yet to battle the shield is grey with a question mark.  If the player has battled than the shield will indicate the league that the player is placed in.  A graphic of the various shields can be found by selecting the information button on the Leagues tab of the Leaderboards.

Boosts: Applies to Wonders.  boosts are the benefits that you can activate once your alliance completes a Wonder as well as any additional upgrades and research for level 2 boosts.  For you to have access to the boosts your alliance has completed, you have to have been in the alliance a minimum of 3 days, as well as have an embassy for 1st level boosts, a 2nd level embassy for 2nd level boosts, as well as have built the wonder building.  Each boost a different activation fee and period of time the activation lasts.  1st level boosts are Brace the Walls, Kizhi Pogost; Trade Envoy, Basilica of San Vitale; Raise the Colors, Tower of London.  2nd level boosts are Advanced Scouting & Sound the Alarm, Kizhi Pogost; Expropriation & Expansion, Basilica of San Vitale; Poison the Well & Reserve Force, Tower of London.

Brace the Walls: Boost, 1st level Kizhi Pogost, assists defense by increasing wall strength 40% for 3 days.  The activation cost is 30,000 Stone or 60 Gold.

Bucket Time: Each players gets 480 minutes (8 hours) of online time each day where they will not be attacked while online.  Once a player has been online for 480 minutes their bucket is empty and they may be attacked even if logged on.  If attacked while in the middle of a battle, you will be logged off in the middle of the battle and most likely lose.  If attacked while in the middle of redesigning your Empire layout, your defenses may be easily overrun.  Your bucket empties while you are online, however once you log off and the 10 minute game grace period ends, it begins to refill again.  If your bucket is full when you log on and you are online for 90 minutes then log off.  After the 10 minute game grace period, your Bucket Time has been reduced by 100 minutes or is at 380 minutes.  For every minute you are offline your bucket time refills.  If you log back on 30 minutes after logging off.  Your Bucket Time has replenished 20 minutes and is now at 400 minutes.  Don't forget to always include the 10 minute game grace period.

Building  Line of Sight: Each building has a line of sight and attacking units cannot spawn within this line of sight.  To see potential holes in your buildings' line of sight.  Pick up a building, move it slightly and set it back in its original position.  The Line of Sight for all buildings will be displayed for a few moments.  Some buildings have less or no Line of Sight, i.e. army camps, roads, walls, caltrops, and fire traps.

Cav Cat Patch: From the AOE Forums, ""There used to be a loophole where low age players (often done in Age 5) could stop upgrading and grind enough crowns to grow to such a number that they'd appear on the top 200 leaderboard. (One guy, Cavalry Cat , reached first place this way.)  Due to the high player population in lower ages, it is very rare to get attacked.  And because high age players could not attack low age players,  those grinding low age players were essentially immune to ever losing crowns.  To constrain this a new rule was introduced. Basically for each age there is an unknown crown cap, that once exceeded opens your castle up to attack from higher age players. The "Cleverly Cat Flag" you can buy as an honor item in game is also a reference to Cavalry Cat's clever strategy.  Should you find yourself falling under the "Cav Cat rule," aging up your castle will get you rid of those high age bullies."" See Andy P's post in the AOE forums Collection of Guides

Chat Tab
: If a player is in an alliance, the chat tab is located in the Communication Center.  This tab is used for general alliance discussion between players, posting replays, requesting relief troops as well as system messages when players are invited to, join, are promoted, are demoted, leave or are kicked out of the alliance.

Civilization: There are six different civilizations in Age of Empires: Castle Siege.  The Civilization selected at the beginning of the game determines which type of Pennant your empire generates.  Pennants are required to do research at the University and Cathedral/Church as well as leveling up Special Units and Heroes.  Though all civilizations can do any research and obtain any special unit or hero, obtaining these are usually easier when you are generating the pennants instead of collecting them through conquest.  A player may change their civilization at any time as many times as they want, the cost is 500 gold each time.  Select the Keep and then the Switch Civilization button.

Communication Center: The icon located in the middle of the far left hand edge of the Empire screen.  Based on whether you are currently in an alliance or not.  If you are not currently in an alliance, when opened it will show any pending invites or display an icon to take you to the Alliances screen to find an alliance.  If you are in an alliance, when opened it will display three tabs, Chat, Notifications, and Announcements.

Empire screen
: Main screen when you log into the game.  Picture and icon descriptions

Expansion: Boost, 2nd level of Basilica of San Vitale, assists economy, increases the production of farms, mills and quarries while active.

Expropriation: Boost, 2nd level of Basilica of San Vitale, assists economy, by increasing the number of pennants looted from Research Buildings and the Keep (additional Pennants come from the pennant pool, not the defender), thus research, special units and heroes can be completed faster.

Kizhi Pogost: Wonder, boosts are Brace the Walls, Advanced Scouting & Sound the Alarm

Kiting: Running defending troops around the map without killing them.  This is useful with troops coming from the Guardhouse and the Watch Signal.  As long as troops from these builds remain alive on the battle field, the buildings cannot deploy more troops.

Notifications Tab: If a player is in an alliance, the Notifications tab is located in the Communication Center.  This tab is a log of troop contributions and displays which players have sent relief troops, who the relief troops were sent to as well as what troops were sent and when.

Peace Treaty: Players receive Peace Treaties after their Empire has been attacked.  The duration of the Peace Treaty is based on the percentage of their empire that was destroyed.  The larger the loss during attack the longer the Peace Treaty.  Researching Diplomacy at the cathedral\church will increase the duration of each Peace Treaty.  Players cannot be attacked while under a Peace Treaty.  However, the remaining Peace Treaty is forfeited, if players choose to battle while under a Peace Treaty.

Pennant: Each civilization has it's own pennant.  Pennants are generated at the University and the Church/Cathedral.  They are stored in both of these buildings as well as the Keep.  Your civilization age determines how many pennants of each civilization you can store at one time.  Pennants are used to research

Poison the Well: Boost, 2nd level of Tower of London

Power Level: Is used in Match Making to determine which players you will be matched up against.  It is based on the upgrades you’ve purchased both for units and buildings, and the number of people close to your power level who are currently available to be attacked.  Your castle's power level is the sum of the power of its offense and defense. It does not correspond with your castle's age nor your siege results. You can raise your power level by upgrading buildings, walls, defenses and troops. You cannot lower your power level. Each building you build/upgrade and each troop you upgrade irreversibly adds a little bit to your overall power level. We do not know how much each building/upgrade attributes to your power level.  Crowns are now included in power level to ensure that a lower age player cannot make it to the top pf the leader board's due to no other players wanting to attack.  See Cav Cat Patch.  You cannot see what your power level is anywhere, just be aware any Military or Fortification upgrade or level up will increase your power level.  Activating Wonders do not increase your power level.

Raise the Colors: Boost, 1st level Tower of London, assists attack by giving you a decoy object that attracts defending troops within its radius.  If it survives until the attack is completed, it becomes a statue that is visible to other players and cannot be removed for 24 hours.  This boost is active for 1 day/ 24 hours and the activation cost is 35,000 Stone or 70 Gold.

Ram Rush: Attack strategy using the hero, Conrad the Elder, and his Siege Rush special Ability.  Considered ineffective in the lower ages as the ability only lasts a short time.  However it is very effective in the upper ages with a fully upgraded Conrad.

Reserve Force: Boost, 2nd level of Tower of London

Sister Alliance: An alliance that is affiliated with another alliance.  Alliances trade players and resources as well as gaming strategy and tips.

Sniper Attack: An attack where the attacker is not trying to get a 1 star win and is looking for resources only.  Snipers send in only a few troops, usually archers or resource gathers.  They take what they need and leave, possibly leaving a few crowns in the process.  Since these attacks give you a short Peace Treaty and do not take crowns, it is common courtesy not to revenge attack.

Sound the Alarm: Boost, 2nd level of Kizhi Pogost

Tanking: Putting a high health unit that can withstand a lot of punishment in front of a weaker health unit.  Such as, blue infantry in front of pike men or purple archers when taking down a tower.

Tower of London: Wonder, boosts are Raise the Colors, Poison the Well & Reserve Force

Trade Envoy: Boost, 1st level of Basilica of San Vitale

Tribute: Putting a highly desired resource in an easily accessible place to encourage snipers to take the resource.  The intention is that less than 50% of your empire will be destroyed and leave you with a short Peace Treaty, well as a few crowns.  Tributes should not be protected by towers or other defending troops.  If the tribute is respected and the attacking team only takes the tribute.  It is common courtesy not to revenge attack.

Tribute Keep:  Putting the Keep in a fully exposed position, not behind any walls, and no Towers or other defending troops in range.  This will result in a loss as well as a loss of crowns, however you will get a longer Peace Treaty and fewer resources if Protection is fully researched.  If the Tribute Keep is respected and they attacking team does not go for your other resources as well, it is common courtesy not to revenge attack.

Wonders: Additional buildings, sometimes referred to as monuments, that can only be built after the alliance completes the tasks required to unlock the wonder.  These buildings provide additional boosts to the players that build and activate them.  Wonders are unlocked by the alliance as a team.  A player must have an Embassy to contribute to the Wonder.  There are two ways to contribute to an in progress wonder, passively (Destroying Archer Towers or other resources during battle as specified by tasks button at the Embassy) or actively (Contributing your own resources or pennants to the wonder, as specified by the tasks button at the Embassy).  Both contribution methods require the contributing player to have an Embassy.  Once a Wonder has been unlocked, each player with an embassy in  the alliance can build the building representing that Wonder.  Wonders are located in the Market, under Boosts, each Wonder costs 100,000 wood.  Once a player builds the Wonder, as long as they have been in the alliance for a minimum of 3 days, they may activate the wonder.  If they have not been in the alliance for at least three days, after they have been in the alliance for three days they will be allowed to activate the wonder.  Each wonder has an activation fee with a specific duration.  Once unlocked, the wonder can be upgraded to a level 2 wonder by the alliance.  When the upgrade is complete, the alliance may then research two additional boosts for each level 2 wonder.  There are three Wonders and each has its own specialty, Kizhi Pogost (Defense), Basilica of San Vitale (Economy), and Tower of London (Attack).  Though any alliance member with an embassy can contribute to the in progress wonder.  Only the Emperor may change the Wonder in progress.  If the alliance wants to upgrade a completed level 1 wonder, the Emperor must have a level 2 Embassy.  Any player with a level 1 Embassy may contribute to a level 2 Wonder.  However once research of the level 2 Boosts has been completed, a player needs a level 2 Embassy to activate the 2nd level boost.  Activating Wonders does not increase a player's Power Level.

Sending Relief Force Troops

Instructions for sending Relief Force Troops

  • The Supernova Alliance Pack does not want players to have to request Relief Force Troops from the Watch Signal.  Alliance members should be actively looking for fellow players who need replenishment using the Alliance Member List.
  • Once the Alliance Member List is open
    • Send Relief Force Troops to players your age or lower.  Do not send to higher age players as your relief forces are not strong enough.
    • Send Mounted Troops, Cavalry, Mamluks, Raiders of Muscovy, and Knights Templar.  Foot Troops are only allowed to be contributed in a Torch level alliance when a player does not have a stable yet.
  • If the helmet icon to the far right is white, then the player needs to have their Relief Force Troops replenished.
Opening the Troop Donation Dialogue Box

  • Click on the helmet icon from either the Member List or the Player Information Screen found in the  Alliance Member List.
  • The Relief Force Troop replenishment screen will activate, showing the troops you have available to send and the cost of sending those troops.
  • Cavalry and other Mounted Troops are preferred, since they are faster and stronger.  They are also cheaper per slot than foot troops.  (Foot Troops are only allowed in Torch alliances)
  • Select the troops you want to send.  Once troops are selected, the Donate button will activate.
  • Click the Donate button and the troops will be sent to your teammate's Watch Signal.
  • Once sent, click the X in the upper  right corner to close the Troop Donation dialogue box.
  • Troops have to be trained for battle.

Age 2 Resources

Age 2

Resources

Economy First!  Start off each age adding and upgrading as many economic buildings as possible.  In age 2, build the additional production buildings first, a Farm and a Mill. Then upgrade your storage facilities as resources allow.

Age 2 Attack

Age 2 with no upgraded troops

Attacking an Age 2 Keep with a single Tower (level 1)

Squads available 2 Infantry, 4 Spearmen
Minimum Squads needed 1 Infantry, 2 Spearmen

Early age 2, with only a barracks, you have limited troops to attack with.  Start this attack with a minimum of one squad of Infantry (blue) against the tower, immediately followed by two squads of Spearmen (orange) against the tower.  If deployed in a timely manner these will be the only troops you need.  However, sometimes you may need to deploy a second squad of Infantry.  If so, be sure to deploy the second squad in time to reach the attacking building before the first squad has died.  Otherwise, the attacking building will target the spearmen, who will die quickly due to lack of armor.

Once the tower has been destroyed, then direct the Infantry (blue) to attack the Keep.  Ensure that the Spearmen (orange) do not get to the keep first.  You want the Keep to target the Infantry (blue).

When the tower and the Keep have been destroyed, the Spearmen can collect the remaining resources without need of protection.

Age 2 with no upgraded troops

Attacking an Age 2 Keep with two Towers (level 1)

Squads available 2 Infantry, 4 Spearmen
Minimum Squads needed 2 Infantry, 2 Spearmen

Start this attack with a minimum of two squads of Infantry (blue) against one of the towers, immediately followed by two squads of Spearmen (orange) against the same tower.

Once the first tower is taken down, target the second tower with Infantry (blue)  immediately followed by the Spearmen (orange).

Once the tower has been destroyed, then direct the Infantry (blue) to attack the Keep.  Ensure that the Spearmen (orange) do not get to the keep first.  You want the Keep to target the Infantry (blue).

When the towers and the Keep have been destroyed, the Spearmen can collect the remaining resources without need of protection.

Alliance Goals

Alliance Goals

Below is a list of Alliance goals.  If any of these goals interest you, let your emperor know so that they can promote you to an alliance that is aligned with your goals.

  • Highest Crown League Possible: Players in this alliance may not win the league, and most likely will start out low in the league ranking.  However players are relaxed about winning crowns and more interested in playing with better/higher crown players.
  • Win the Alliance League at all costs.  Always positioned for the win in the highest possible alliance league.  This may require losing crowns and or asking players to move to another alliance before battling in the new league season.  Players are chosen by crown level.
  • Relaxed Gaming Style (Play as you wish): Each alliance member plays how they wish the emperor does not try to position the alliance for an Alliance League win.
  • Learning Alliance: Players share replays and discuss various strategies for their age level.  The alliance has an active chat.

General Alliance Guidelines

General Alliance Guidelines

  • Be Active: Players must be active and battle at least once every 14 days.  Please notify your emperor via chat if you are going to be away for long periods of time.
  • Say Hello: When joining a new alliance send a chat saying "Hello" to the team.
  • Share ideas: We encourage players to chat about strategy and share replays.
  • Stay Up to Date: Communication is very important, check the Chat and Announcements tabs when you see the icon glowing yellow.
  • Let us know your progress: When you age out of an alliance, you should post a chat letting your emperor know you have met the requirements and are ready to be promoted to the next level.  Your Emperor will review your progress and schedule an invite to your new alliance.
  • Kick/Join: Emperors coordinate moving between alliances by kicking players out of one alliance and sending an invite to the new alliance.
  • Aging Up: It is highly recommended that players play many battles at each age and finish most of the economic and military upgrades before aging up.  The earlier ages are when you should be testing various battle strategies.  Aging up too quickly can be very frustrating as the competition becomes fiercer.  Ages 5 to 8 can be very difficult for some players.  Once you age up, you cannot go back.
  • Play at your own pace: Each player has to decide for themselves how fast they will age up.  The alliances place no time limits on how long a player can stay at any alliance level.
  • We'll be with you in a moment: Please give your emperor time to respond to chats.  If the emperor does not respond and the chat has scrolled off the board, please repost it.  It may have been missed.
  • Have Fun: Enjoy gaming; please be courteous to your fellow players and alliance members.

Recruiting Alliance

Recruiting level alliance

Age 2 and up players without a Watch Signal

Age 2 & 3: The game moves very fast at this level.  Players are able to train troops quickly and buildings can be built in a short period of time.  Do not let this fool you.  This is where you are going to learn the very basics of the game.  Resist the urge to age up as quickly as possible.  You cannot restart the game from the beginning.  Once you have started an upgrade there is no way to go back and start over.  Spoiler Alert!!  As you age up, things start to take longer and the pace of the game moderates.  If you want to try new techniques repeatedly and quickly, the early ages are the time to do this.

Age 4 & Up: The Watch Signal is available at Age 4.  It is located in the Market under Fortifications, costs 6,000 Wood and takes 15 hours to build.  Once your Watch Signal is in process, or if you already have a Watch Signal built, post a chat to your emperor letting them know you will be available to move once it is complete.  Your emperor will start looking for a Torch alliance for you to move to.

Players who do not want to build a Watch Signal:  Though a Watch Signal is highly recommended, some players may choose not to build a Watch Signal for strategic reasons:  They do not want to increase their power level by adding another fortification.  They do not intend to provide Relief Force Troops to others.  Whatever the reason, if you have chosen not to build a Watch Signal at this time, you may still progress up the alliance structure.  Once you have reached age 5 and built an Embassy, post a chat to your emperor telling them that you do not plan to build a Watch Signal and ask to be promoted to a Nova alliance.
